Plant Update

Gateway Drive – Manufacturing Facility

Much has happened at EmpowerPharm since our last newsletter in the winter, the highlight being that we have officially moved into our manufacturing facility in Burlington. The plant is state-of-the-art, looks amazing, and is well on the way to being GMP compliant. All the equipment has been moved in and we are close to completing validation and commissioning.

The COVID-19 pandemic and work from home orders forced us to adapt and luckily, we were able to continue working relatively unimpeded. Although we did and continue to have some difficulty dealing with 3rd parties, our finance, supply chain, quality, IT, and administrative teams have been working from home since the middle of March. Our cloud-based systems allow us to work very well remotely, almost as if we were still in the office. Communication tools such as Microsoft Teams have given us the ability to communicate and work collaboratively in real-time while maintaining some ‘face-to-face’ contact.

Our operations at the plant continue, since as a pharmaceutical company doing R&D we are deemed an ‘essential service’. Dealing with third parties is understandably slower during these times, yet we were allowed to continue and finalize construction, albeit with minimal onsite workers and while following social distancing protocols. We continue with the minimal number of employees and consultants at the plant at any given time in order to reach our milestones.

We had originally planned to bring you, our shareholders, in for tours of the facility in late April, however, due to the current COVID-19 situation that was not possible. In the meantime, we want to give you a taste of what our state-of-the-art facility looks like by sharing Aubrey’s video of the transformation of Gateway and photographs of what the plant looks like today. The flow of the plant was carefully engineered to maximize efficiency for the movement of materials and people. This photographic ‘tour’ follows the same path that materials would take on their way to becoming finished pharmaceutical products.

We look forward to having you come to the facility in person as soon as we can. For now, we hope that you enjoy this virtual tour that shows how the EmpowerPharm vision has transformed into reality before our very eyes!
